Junipero Serra Museum Wedding / Presidio Park, San Diego
I had the honor of witnessing the union of two of the most loving and supportive people I know - Austin and Jack. They chose to have their wedding ceremony and reception at the stunning Junipero Serra Museum in San Diego's Presidio Park.
The Junipero Serra Museum is located in the San Diego Presidio, which was founded in 1769 as the first permanent Spanish settlement on the Pacific Coast of the present-day United States. The museum building itself was constructed in the 1920s in the style of a Spanish church from the mission era. With its white adobe walls, red tiled roof, and charming bell tower, it provided the perfect romantic and historic backdrop for Austin and Jack's big day.
As someone who has gotten to know this couple well over the years, I can attest to the fact that they are truly soulmates. Jack's unwavering support for Austin, especially during her intense master's program, was a thing to behold. He cheerfully took on extra responsibilities at home, brought her meals while she studied, and always had an encouraging word when she felt overwhelmed. Their partnership and teamwork are an inspiration.
The wedding ceremony in the museum's sunny courtyard was simple yet deeply touching. Austin looked radiant in her lace gown as she exchanged personalized vows with Jack. There was not a dry eye in the audience as we all bore witness to the palpable love and commitment between them.
After the ceremony, the festivities moved inside to the museum's recently renovated gallery spaces for cocktails and dining. Artifacts and exhibits about San Diego's indigenous, Spanish, and Mexican heritage surrounded the celebration. Austin and Jack's decor style highlighted the venue's historic charm with loads of candlelight, greenery, and hints of Spanish flair.
As the evening drew to a close and the newlyweds prepared for their honeymoon in Mexico, I felt so grateful to have front-row seats to this storybook celebration of Austin and Jack's love. In a world that isn't always kind, their devotion to one another gives me renewed faith in the enduring power of commitment, compassion, and partnership. I wish them every happiness as they start this next chapter as husband and wife.
